Season 17 Playoff Predictions

Great season everyone!!

With the playoffs upon us, it’s time for another edition of the CDL playoff predictions!!!  We’ve got 5 intense tiers of action ahead of us this weekend, so let’s check out a few of the favorites for Saturday’s big day of dodgeball.  Pushy and I have been on a bit of a hot streak, so if you think you can pick’em better, we’ve got beers at the pub Saturday for anyone who can prove us wrong!

L is for party Tier

Cereal Killers (1) def. Inspect Her Gadget (3)

The Cereal Killers were the runners-up for most improved team this season.  They came within inches of being bumped up to the next tier, so with the momentum of being the number one seed, expect this upstart team to make some serious waves.  Inspect Her Gadget has an awesome name, and a squad of exciting, high-energy players, but I expect the Killers to ride the wave of momentum and come up with a big win.

Pushy the CDL Party Penguin’s Pick- Damn Good.  Some people just seem to have a knack for winning right, Sam?  Also, if anything wins dodgeball champions, it’s clever wordplay.

Darkhorse- Despiciballs.  They may have been ranked near the bottom, but they are fresh off of winning the best dressed dodgy.  These guys could be the coolest jersey to ever win a championship!

D is for Party Tier– Pollo de la Noche (2) def. Blood Sweat and Beers (3)- Pollo have a few players who really know how to up their game when the game’s get tough.  Blood Sweat and Beers are a vet team who know what it takes to win.  This one could be a toss up, but we’ll go with the team with the bigger guns

Pushy’s Pick- Pelter Skelter- These guys are the number one pick and have the best rhyming name in the league, how do you not pick them?

Darkhorse- The I in Team.  Cause that’s a pretty sick name.

C is for Party Tier Gotta Catch’em All (2) def. Here for the Beer (1)  I keep jinxing Gotta Catch’em All, but I figure they’ve gotta win one eventually, and I don’t want to pick someone else the year they finally take it home.  Here for the Beer’s pretty damn good though

Pushy’s Pick-Hands Off My Balls.  These guys have been around for a while now, and when they’re on they can beat anyone

Darkhorse- New Team!  Dan Lewis sucks, but this is a greatly underestimated team that has pulled together in just a few short weeks.  Dan does suck though,

B Tier Classy MFers (2) def. Anytime Fitness Dumbells (5)  This tier is coming down to who has the biggest arms.  Lucky for the MFers, we aren’t talking literally.  Anytime Fitness has come out of nowhere to become one of the hottest new teams in the league.  That said, Classy is a team highlighted by 2 of the best players in the entire league.  If they win, they might even be a contender when they bump up to A tier

Pushy’s Pick- Pandamonium.  They might be the bottom seed, but they are the most experienced team around and know how to put their best food forward when they need to.  The CDl’s always rooting for Pandamonium!

Darkhorse-Port Moody Wailers.  With the Jabronis winning a big Dodgy Awards, expect the other half of the Port Moody Syndicate to make a big push for a Golden Dodgeball!!

A Tier  Science Rules (2) def. Hermies (1).  Science Rules are a great mix of high level players who haven’t quite made it all the way yet, and a couple of guys who know how to play big and win championships.  It’d be great to see some vet players finally put in a championship run, but they’ll have to beat a Hermies team that is finally playing their best dodgeball.  Expect these teams to face off in the Semi-final, and again in the final.

Pushy’s Pick- Bayside Tigers.  Another team that’s stuck together for a long team, and is finally starting to look like a serious top contender.  Bayside has all the momentum in the world, and right now they can win 3 out of 5 against anyone.

Darkhorse- Class Mfers.  No team has won both B and A tier.  With the possibility of changing league policy next year, this could be the last time that teams are able to move up after winning their tier.  With that in mind, this team is a live an underdog as we’ve ever seen get bumped up.  They have a long way to go just to win their own tier, but it’d sure be awesome if they won two!!
