Hey Ho Dodgeballers!
With Season 9 right around the corner… time to pump up the jam with a few reason’s why CDL Season 9 is going to be the best season yet!!!
9. More Dodgeballs! We have just received a huge order of dodgeballs, and along with the new ones from last season, we can guarantee that there will be top notch balls on the courts every night. After all, we here at the CDL love to take care of our balls!
8. More Captain / Player Input! We are looking to our Captains, and hence players, for more input this year on league policies and structure. That way, our captains and our players have a little ownership over how they think they can make our great league even better! How many weeks does a player have to play to be eligible for playoffs? Would you rather have more tiers, or play more teams? Have any sweet ideas for parties? We are ready to take your two cents, so lets hear it!
7. In Gym Tunes!! Question: What doesn’t music make better? Answer: Silent Reading…. But aside from that, music helps add all sorts of fun to any party, and dodgeball is no exception. With rockin tunes in our gym this season, players are encouraged to dance dodge their way around the court! I’ll buy the a drink to the first person I see moonwalk dodge their way across a court.
6. Party Party Party… As Advertised! A while ago, a wise somebody told me that our illustrious CDL song advertised three parties, and that we needed to step up and throw three. Aside from the weekly after parties, (which will come later) we will be having our illustrious CDL Extravaganza, our 2nd CDL Allstar Game / Skills Competition, and an improved and jacked up CDL Playoff After Party! Why, with those three league parties, its hard to believe we could party more! But read on dear reader… for you will see there are even more parties to come!
5. Christmas Dodge for a Cause! This season, we are forced to take a small break during Christmas as the schools shut down their rentals. However, this doesn’t mean we are going to be stopping the dodgeball! CDL is proud to announce that we will be throwing our first ever charity food drive dodgeball tournament! A great chance to play during the break,and help those in need, we are hoping to establish this as a great chance to contribute in our community whilst having a barrel full of fun! 4. C is for Community!! Our mandate from day 1 has been to build a community of adults who are looking to get fit and have fun! In order to do that, we provide our league parties as well as our weekly after party. But, this season, we aren’t stopping there! We have all sorts of extra curricular events planned trying to get dodgeballers out and together! Public skating at the Coliseum? Giants, Whitecaps, or Canucks game? Dances? Adventures?? Stay tuned and look forward!!
3. Cooler Merch! We have been a little guilty of just hoarding up on CDL T-shirts in the past, and this season, we are really trying to diversify our merchandise! Glasses? Playing Cards? More sweat pants? Shorts? We wanna slap a CDL logo on everything!! Look forward to it throughout the season! Have an idea of something you wanna see? 2. Improved After Party!!! The weekly after party is the true backbone of the CDL. We have always provided somewhere for players to go after dodgeball to meet and mingle and keep the good times rolling! This year, we are really stepping up to make our weekly after parties as ROCKIN as can be! Themed Weeks! Beer Pong! Flip Cup! Prizes, Games, Free Drinks! We even have a partnership with a safe ride home, so you can have a few drinks and get you and your car home safe and responsibly!! We moved the after party to Woody’s Pub on Brunette, and with it, a move in philosophy… that we are going to work hard to throw such a raging good time that people will NEED to attend! Those who wish to buy into the community and after party are in for a treat! So come on out and experience what the CDL is really all about!!
1. More Multimedia!!! Playing dodgeball… good. Getting a great kill in a game…. better. Watching your stellar performance on youtube again and again and again… legendary! When we thought of how to make this season better, our primary goal was to make the league more interactive! You can expect more pictures, more game videos, more video mashups, and more blog writeups! Our goal is to make our league as much fun to follow and be a part of as it is to play in! So stay tuned, and be sure to check the website frequently and often, cause there will be pictures or videos of you…. yes YOU! Rockin out on the dodgeball courts!
